Educational Grant Report – Marta Górecka at Garibaldi Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic in Catania Sicily- Italy

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the European Society of Ophthalmology for the Educational Grant for ophthalmologists-in-training 2016 which gave me an opportunity to spend 4 weeks (from the 1st to 30 th  of May 2016) at the Ophthalmology Clinic in Garibaldi Hospital-Nesima as well as Private Ophthalmology Morgagni Clinic in Catania, Italy.

I would like to thank Doctor Antonio Marino, who is now the head of Ophthalmology Clinic in Garibaldi Hospital and Doctors Sergio Scalia , Giuseppe Guttuso for all their help and wise advice during my stay at Garibaldi Hospital.
Special thanks to Professor Rapisarda , Doctor Alfonso Spinello and all the staff of Morgagni Ophthalmology Clinic. I was highly impressed by their knowledge and passion for their work. It was great pleasure to observe their clinical work, many different modern surgery techniques.
Most of my time I spent observing a wide range of ophthalmic surgeries including cornea surgery, glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery and retinal detachment.
I had an opportunity to see therapeutic management of some pathologies I rarely come across at my home hospital.
I was also invited to take part in training course „ Cataracta Surgery” for young ophthalmologists.  All speakers were highly skilled professionals and perfect surgeons.
My observership gave me the chance to improve my knowledge and ophthalmology skills.
