Egle Drukteiniene, Lithuania, Observership Report from Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) UK

First of all, I am very thankful to European Society of Ophthalmology for giving me such a great opportunity to be a clinical observer in a Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH), UK.

I spent 4 weeks in September, 2018, as clinical observer under supervision of Ms Romi Chhabra. During my visit I worked in different MREH clinics. I had a chance to be an observer in cornea, glaucoma, oculoplasctics clinics. Also I visited uveitis, medical retina and pediatrics clinics. Working in these departments I was able to see the management of diseases and discuss with the doctors about possible treatment opportunities. I felt like a part of the MREH team. Moreover, I had an opportunity to be in the theater. Also I was able to see preoperative and postoperatice patient’s care. During my visit I saw vitreoretinal, glaucoma and strabismus surgeries. I was pleased to learn some new surgery methods for me. Visiting MREH I was able to widen my knowledge in ophthalmology and to see the newest treating opportunities.

I am very grateful for all the doctors, especially for Ms Romi Chhabra, and to all the nurses and staff for very pleasant working atmosphere. I felt very welcomed.

I definitely recommend MREH for young ophthalmologist to visit.

Sincerely,

Egle Drukteiniene
