Alina-Simona Lazar – Observership report from Ocular Oncology Centre, Royal Liverpool Hospital, UK

I spent my observership at the Ocular Oncology Centre of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, in Liverpool, United Kingdom. During the 4-week visit, I attended the Department’s activities, both in Clinic, as well as in the Operating Theatre. I want to express my special thanks to Professor Heinrich Heimann, from whom I had the opportunity to learn about the management of ocular oncology cases of a wide range of complexity, as well as to all the doctors of the medical team, who were very open to share their knowledge with me and kindly answered to all my questions. Moreover, I would like to thank the members of the medical staff, nurses and technicians, who were very nice, friendly and helped me with promptitude whenever I needed. Overall I feel that the experience was very useful in gaining insight into the field of ocular oncology.

I express my sincere thanks to the European Society of Ophthalmology for awarding me this Educational Grant, as the experience will certainly play an important role in my future career.
