Mark TSO Gold Apple Award
ICO CEO Ivo Kucor awarded the Mark TSO Golden Apple Award, at the SOE 2025 Opening Session to Marie Louise Roed Rasmussen. The award recognises innovation and leadership in Education.

Marie Louise Roed Rasmussen is a senior consultant and associate professor from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark with extensive academic and professional experience. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Copenhagen in 2006 and a PhD from the same university in 2010. In 2017, she became a specialized physician in ophthalmology at Rigshospitalets department of ophthalmology, also in Copenhagen, Denmark.
During her time on the SOE-YO committee, the establishment of the system with SOE YO National representatives, EMYO conferences, SOE-YO statute, SOE newsletter were all achieved. Additionally, the SOE-YO educational committee published two papers on harmonizing ophthalmic residency surgical training across Europe during her leadership.
In The Ophthalmology Foundation, Rasmussen have served in both Advisory committee, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) subcommittee and most of all in the Accreditation subcommittee where she have taken part in the development of the OF accreditation system. She is also lecturing in the Teaching Skills for Ophthalmic Educators Online Series, by OF. In addition, Rasmussen has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters besides given over 60 invited talks at conferences and webinars worldwide on educational and subspecialty topics.
