Monika Samardjioska, Serbia, Observership report from Klinik und Poliklinik für Augenheilkunde Universitätsklinikum Leipzig, Germany
I would like to express my gratitude to the SOE Educational Committee of the European Society of Ophthalmology and Professor Marko Hawlina, for awarding me the Educational Grant for Ophthalmologists-in-training. University Eye Clinic in Leipzig, Germany was my Clinic of choosing and from this point of view I may say it was an excellent choice.
I also would like to thank Prof. Dr.med. Wiedemann and Doc. Dr.med Unterlauft for taking into consideration my professional priorities and organizing my weekly observership rotine at the highest level. I had the opportunity to observe and examine ambulant, urgent and stationary patients and see the newest diagnostic techniques as well.
In the four weeks that i have been there I had a chance to see how all departments and ambulance function and observe diagnostic and operative techniques that were in my interest. It was especially educational the time I spent in the operating room, where I observed cataract and glaucoma surgeries, MIGS, corneal transplantations, DMEK, vitreoretinal and oculoplastic surgeries.
I’m certain that the knowledge I acquired will be helpful for my future. I highly recommend this centre to SOE Grant awardees.
Kind regards,
Monika Samardjioska
