Olena Hurzhii, MD Graduates from AAO Leadership Development Program
On Sunday, Nov. 5th during the Society Presidents’ Recognition and Awards Session held in conjunction with AAO 2023 in San Francisco, Calif., Olena Hurzhii, MD was recognized for completing her participation in the Academy’s Leadership Development Program XXIV, Class of 2023. Dr. Hurzhiiwas selected as the program’s international participant and the joint nominee of the Ukrainian Ophthalmological Society and the European Society of Ophthalmology. She joined LDP nominees chosen in a competitive selection process from U.S. state, subspecialty and specialized interest societies.
In January 2023, Dr. Hurzhii took part in a 2 ½ day interactive session in San Francisco covering a wide variety of leadership and association management topics. The meeting also included a reception at the Academy’s Truhlsen-Marmor Museum of the Eye and a visit to the headquarter offices to hear from the 2023 Academy President Dan Briceland, MD as well as Academy CEO Stephen McLeod, MD regarding key priorities and future challenges for the Academy.
During the final LDP XXIV session during AAO 2023, Dr. Hurzhii was selected as one of five LDP graduates to present her LDP Project, Benchmarking Residency Training Programs in the Ukraine, EU Countries, India and the USA.
