The prevalence of myopia and pathological myopia is increasing substantially and will become the most common cause of visual impairment and blindness in Europe unless we act now. There are already effective myopia control interventions and we have the opportunity to prevent myopia onset and to slow down its progression. Due to the urgency of this situation, the Board of the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) decided to develop and publish the Update and Guidance on Management of Myopia. In the development of this guidance, Board members of the SOE, invited experts and European members of the International Myopia Institute (IMI) were involved. The publication is online in the European Journal of Ophthalmology and ‘open access’, so you can reach the full article and download the pdf version, free of charge.
