Retinopathy of premature infants (ROP) is a vasoproliferative disease of the retina of the eyes of premature infants, which occupies a leading position among the causes of childhood blindness and low vision and remains in the focus of attention of ophthalmologists all over the world for several decades.
To carry out adequate treatment of ROP and prevent its severe outcomes, high-quality diagnosis of the disease in the early stages of its development and timely detection of signs of probable progression of the disease are required.

The use of retinal wide-field digital imaging using a portable pediatric fundus camera such as the Retcam, shuttle, has become a useful adjunct to the documentation of ROP and as a screening and teaching tool.
Unfortunately, not every neonatology and ophthalmology center is equipped with this device, and the number of such children is increasing every year. An alternative method of this problem is to record and archive the disease using a smartphone.
Smartphone: iPhone or smartphone deploying (for example iPhone 6,8)
Aspheric lens: 20 diopters (20D) lenses are most frequently available. You may also have a 28D lens.
Native camera app: If this is the only software available on your operating system, use this for video recording with the LED light on as you will need a continuous light source for illumination.
