Cristina-Ioana Roth – Observership in the Anterior Segment Unit of the Ophthalmology Department at the University Hospital of Dusseldorf

Cristina-Ioana Roth (geb. Trihenea)

I hereby confirm that  I absolved an observership in the Anterior Segment Unit of the Ophthalmology Department at the University Hospital of Dusseldorf (UKD) from 1st until 30th July 2017.

I participated in numerous corneal surgeries, including penetrating keratoplasty, DMEK with transplant preparation and prelevation , glaucoma surgeries and cataract surgeries. I also assist at different surgeries on eyelids, as entropion, ectropion, ptosis and blepharochalasis correction.

This experience has been very useful to me because I have learned and seen both: the various pathology and the surgical side that is very interesting for me.

I had the opportunity to meet and share my professional experience with my colleagues at the UKD who were always willing to answer my questions and guide me.
It was a pleasure and an honor to be in the team of Doctor Maria Borreli, who is a wonderful person and  doctor and who took care to meet all my goals.

Since the UKD have many studies on dry eye syndrome and my doctoral thesis is exactly on this condition, I have proposed with the Doctor Maria Borreli  permission to come back in the near future to do a research on dry eye syndrome. For all my experience I want to thank the  SOE Grant  because he gave me this wonderful and unique opportunity. Your sincerely Cristina-Ioana Roth (born Trihenea)Ophthalmology  resident in the last yearFrom Sibiu, Romania
