SOE YO Incoming Chair and Deputy Chair

SOE are delighted to announce the new Chair and Deputy Chair for the SOE YO Community.

Kirstine Bolette Boysen is the Incoming YO Chair, who has been working as an SOE YO committee member for several years with the National Representatives and Social media Committee. After finishing her first year of residency at the Department of Ophthalmology at Copenhagen University Hospital – Rigshospitalet in Denmark, she is currently working on her PhD thesis.

Kirstine is passionate about promoting equal education and possibilities for young ophthalmologists (YO) in Europe. Her mission lies at the heart of the SOE, and is thrilled to be part of this remarkable society as the new chair of the SOE YO. Together with the amazing team of engaged and driven YOs from across Europe, she is excited to make a meaningful impact on the field of Ophthalmology. 

Matt Fenech is the incoming YO Deputy Chair, who has also been working with the SOE YO Commtitee for several years with the Social Media Committee and main committee.

Matt is an ophthalmology specialist trainee based in Liverpool with Masters in Clinical Ophthalmology with distinction from University College London. He has experience working in drug discovery and drug development through his clinical fellowship role at Roche Products Ltd. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology and fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology, with a keen interest in oculoplastics, orbital pathology, adnexal and lacrimal disease. He has a passion for ophthalmic education and delivery and truly believes that success is not a destination but a journey and that we must all enjoy the process and never stop striving for improvement
