Tina Usaj, Slovenia, Observership report from the Eye Clinic Bonn, Germany

In November, I attended an observership in the Glaucoma Department at the University Eye Clinic Bonn. During this period, I had the opportunity to participate in the outpatient clinic, observe glaucoma surgeries in the operating room, and attend several educational courses organized for ophthalmologists at the clinic.

The outpatient clinic was particularly valuable, as it allowed me to learn the diagnostic approach and clinical reasoning of glaucoma specialists when evaluating glaucoma suspects, managing complex cases of secondary glaucoma, and handling referrals from other eye clinics.

Surgical management of glaucoma at UKB is extensive, and I had the chance to observe a wide range of procedures, including filtering surgeries and various MIGS techniques, each selected according to specific patient indications.

I am sincerely grateful to the entire glaucoma team for their warm welcome. My special thanks go to Dr. Mercieca

I would also like to thank SOE for this wonderful opportunity.
