I am very thankful to SOE and Prof. dr. Marko Hawlina for giving me such a great opportunity to be a clinical observer in a top ophthalmological institution, named Manchester Royal Eye Hospital(MREH)!
I did my clinical observership in MREH from 22 of August to 16 of September 2016.
I was attached to the VR team under the supervision of the leading Consultant Ophthalmologist Vitreoretinal Surgeon Dr. Stephen Charles.

I have chosen this subspecialty because of my great interest in this area.
Dr. Stephen Charles made a perfect clinical schedule for me to follow. My programme included but was not limited to attending numerous VR surgery theatres, Medical Retina, Macula Treatment Centre, Diabetic Screening, Uveitis Clinic, Emergency Eye Service.
I was able to experience treatment options in variety of different clinical situations, enhance my knowledge and getting the best possible management in each particular case.

Moreover, I have got acquainted with another medical system, which has some differences from ours.  It was also interesting for me to see the diagnostic and management of some of the rare pathologies, which can be infrequently seen in my everyday practice.

I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Stephen Charles for such a wonderful organization of my timetable, for his kindness and professionalism, for sharing his knowledge and experience!  Many thanks to VR team, medical retina team and to all medical staff for being so kind and warmly welcoming!
I would recommend this hospital to junior ophthalmologists as well as to the experienced ones.

Kind regards,

Dr.Tetiana Tukilush.
