Grant Report from Instituto de Oftalmologia Dr. Gama Pinto in Lisbon, Portugal.

From 12 dr-ekaterina-bryantsevato 30 September I had training in Instituto de Oftalmologia Dr. Gama Pinto in Lisbon, Portugal.

Because my  subspecialty is posterior segment pathology, that  most of the time I spent in Medical retina department. We discussed in detail with colleagues clinical cases and referral pathway. There I’ve improved my management skills in the Diabetic retinopathy, Age-related macular degeneration and deepened my experience in the differential diagnosis of various diseases of retina. Also I visited Glaucoma department, where I’ve expanded my knowledges the evaluation and management of glaucoma, based on existing guidelines and other resources.

I was in the operating room and saw Phaco+IOL,  great interest aroused vitreoretinal surgery and botulinum toxin chemodenervatiion for strabismus and eyelids pathologies. By the way, the operating room is very well equipped.

My training in this clinic was very useful for me, because I’ve began to understand better  not only posterior segment pathology, but in other areas of ophthalmology and I have some ideas concerning my further practice.

I’m very grateful to all my colleagues for sharing their experiences and the special thanks to Сeu and Dr. Luisa for their support.
