Hasmik Zargaryan, Armenia observership report from FISABIO – Oftalmologia Medica, Valencia, Spain

First, I would like to express my immense appreciation to the European Society of Ophthalmology for the opportunity to participate in the observership at the FISABIO – OFTALMOLOGIA MEDICA, Valencia, Spain. The Educational Grant for Ophthalmologists-in-training enriched my knowledge and inspired me towards further professional and personal growth.

I observed and examined patients in outpatient clinic and observed a wide range of ophthalmic surgeries. The surgical experience encompassed observing the management of difficult cataract cases and of a large number of corneal transplants, DMEK and DSAEK procedures. Moreover, I have been acquainted with another medical system, which has some differences from ours. 

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Director of the institute Dra. Christina Peris-Martinez – great specialist in Cornea service for sharing with me her knowledge, time, wisdom, for being so kind and friendly.  Special thanks to Dra Mari Carmen Desco, for accepting me in FOM, organizing my schedule .I would also like to thank Dra Maria Jesus Lopez-Prats Lucea-great specialist in Retina Service-for help, medical tips, and her friendship. It was pleasure to observe their clinical, full of professionalism and passion work. The working conditions allow the specialists to give their best to the patients in low stress atmosphere. I strongly appreciate established education for their residents.

Concluding my report, based on my brilliant experience, I would strongly encourage all my colleagues to apply for the SOE Educational Grants.
